A few days ago I put the finishing touches on Cormac. It was a great project for me, filled with inspiration and enjoyment.
I am very happy with the result and feel it represents my best work to this point by far.
The sculpt gave me a lot to work with, and I feel I did it justice. I realized my initial vision, which is gratifying.
That isn’t to say elements and aspects of the paint couldn’t be improved, and I’ll keep pushing to become a more complete and convincing painter.
I was heavily influenced by the beautiful Fall we experienced here in Pittsburgh. As a result, the piece feels personal and particular, which is a goal for any artist, I think.
I hope this work represents a turning point in my painting, as I managed to translate some of the ideas in my head onto the model in a way that felt at once satisfying and successful.
I hope you like Cormac. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for taking a look!
