Uggggghhhhhhhh…

The zombies are coming! Well, the zombie.

This gruesome but lovable fellow shambled across my desk this week. He’s a 1/10 bust from Trovarion Miniatures.

My big challenge was selling a night lighting scheme (because, you know, zombies are scarier at night) while still revealing enough detail and conveying enough color to capture the viewer’s attention.

You can see I’ve added a green bounce light to the down-facing surfaces of the mini. I’ve been practicing this approach on my recent figures, having been introduced to it by my new friend and painting mentor Dave Colwell.

I really enjoyed painting this miniature. The face is incredibly expressive, despite the fact that I didn’t add much warm lively color. I did sneak some in, though!

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this mostrous mini!

  1. I think the understated (but still highly accurate) lighting on the metal is well done. The face is great too though as Pete said. Rotting skin tones are harder to paint than I thought and I love the colors you chose on this guy.
