My Nature illustration kick continues, this time returning to an old favorite.
These are inspired by some turkeytails Cassie & I found in Allegheny Cemetery last year. In the spirit of the place, you might be able to imagine a skull in my drawing if you squint.
I’ve moved some mushrooms around, altered the substrate, and hot rodded the colors a little, but you can identify the originals if you look a bit.
Turkeytail mushrooms are beautiful, beneficial, and very common near where I live. They exhibit vibrant colors and take on interesting nobbly shapes. I’ve seen a lot of them and taken plenty of good photographs, as you know if you visit ToadChapel often. If you want to learn more about these pretty polypores, check out this cool video by Pittsburgh’s own Adam Haritan.
